From Digital Marketer to Growth Marketer: What Actually Changed
For years, I thought being a great marketer meant driving traffic, lowering cost-per-clicks (CPCs), and increasing engagement.
But traffic doesn’t equal revenue.
Engagement doesn’t equal growth.
And that realization changed everything.
The Real Difference Between Digital Marketing and Growth Marketing

Digital marketing asks: “How do we get more clicks?”
Growth marketing asks: “How do we turn those clicks into predictable revenue?”
The Moment I Realized More Followers Doesn’t Equal Revenue
I have worked with brands and companies where executives were obsessed with number – followers, views, likes, etc. The thing is that those numbers don’t reflect REAL CUSTOMERS. There are so many marketing agencies out there that promise follower growth and I have seen them do it. However, they aren’t engaging. They aren’t buying. Are these new followers bots? Or are they simply not interested in your product? If they aren’t interested, then why follow? Were they paid? Or are they “fake” accounts? I ask so many questions because you would think more followers equal more business.
That is not always true.
Meanwhile, the opposite can be true. A brand with a small following can have a higher engagement and real customers. This brand knows how to find and keep their core audience while tapping into that network to create a larger one.
Essentially, do you want a following of 1,000 and have at least 10 (1%) new clients or do you want a following of 10,000 and maybe get 1 or 2 (0.01%) new clients?
The Experiences that Changed Me
I had clients who would hire me to do one thing – build a website, make TikTok videos, create emails – and I was never able to get the results they wanted. I felt like a failure. That’s because I didn’t have access to their entire system. Sure, I can make one thing work but that’s only part of the process.
What I needed my clients to understand is that a good growth strategy needed to be in place.
Website, emails, content are part of the overall system. If one is not in place or is not optimized, we need to fix it.
I Think in Funnels, Not Platforms
I no longer look at just one platform but an overall system. A full-funnel marketing strategy was missing and I’m intent on implementing this for all my clients

Who Growth Marketing Is (And Isn’t) For
Growth marketing is for:
- Brands past early validation
- Founders ready to scale
- Companies that value data
- Teams willing to test and iterate
- Organizations focused on profitability, not vanity
It’s not for:
- Businesses looking for “just more followers”
- Teams resistant to experimentation
- Companies unwilling to examine conversion friction
- Brands expecting ads to fix broken offers
Growth requires ownership.
And ownership requires visibility.
Let’s Build Smarter Growth
Are you a founder ready to scale beyond guesswork?
If you’re a brand tired of high traffic and low conversion…
or if you’re a company looking for a revenue-minded growth leader…
Let’s talk.
Because growth isn’t about doing more marketing. It’s about building better systems. And that changes everything.
