Earlier this month, Shareaholic’s monthly traffic report revealed that Pinterest generated more referral traffic to their site than Twitter according to their findings based on aggregated data from more than 200,000 publishers that reach more than 270 million unique monthly visitors each month.
So why is this stat so shocking?
Pinterest is only 2-years-old but has recently been a popular social sharing site in the past few months with an estimate of 11.9 million registered users while Twitter has an estimate of 5oo million users. It’s only natural to think that a site with more users will drive more traffic to your site. However, Shareaholic’s monthly report shows that Pinterest had a 0.20% increase in generating traffic since January while Twitter had a 0.6% drop.
Are you on Pinterest? Has it driven traffic to your site? How does it compare with Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and LinkedIn?
